What The Scarborough Group Does

How can the Group help you?
The Scarborough Group runs fixed 10 week courses for new members (Associates) wanting to improve their driving skills.
Associate members are assigned an individual Observer (someone who has already passed the Advanced test) by the Group.
Observers and Associates meet on mutually convenient days and times over the 10 week period and carry out drives in the Associate’s own vehicle. The Observer will pass on knowledge and advice to the Associate which will help towards passing the IAM test.
The completed course with the Observer is followed by two check tests administered by a member of the Scarborough Group before finally taking the advanced driving test with an IAM examiner.

Guidance is available for both cars and motorcycles.
Note: An Observer riding his/her own machine follows Associate motorcyclists.

How does the Group Operate?
The Group holds monthly meetings, to which all are welcome. These meetings are publicised one week in advance in the local newspaper "The Scarborough Evening News" and/or "The Trader". The meetings are of a motoring nature and often include guest speakers. Meetings are usually held at Allatt House, West Parade Road, Scarborough. A three monthly newsletter produced by the group is distributed to all group members free.
